  • Video Assets: all video assets need to be in .MOV or MP4 format. We recommend each video have a maximum length of 30 seconds for best view.
  • Content Narration: a script for Pepper to say corresponding to the assets that you will upload

How do I set up a Company Story?

1) Navigate to the Company Stories page and click "Add Story."

2) From there, you will need to type in your story title.

3) Upload your assets in chronological order. Each story can contain up to ten slides. The assets will populate the story timeline, and you can rearrange the slides by dragging them within the timeline.

4) Once you have all your assets uploaded, it's time to write the narration. Below the story timeline, you will see the asset that you uploaded for this particular slide as well as the narration text box.

5) Below the text box, you can also configure a pause after Pepper’s narration. Without a pause specified, Pepper will immediately progress to the next slide & narration.

6) Click "Done" at the top of the page when finished with all slides. Your new story will be listed in the main Company Stories Page.

Company Story Best Practices:

  • We recommend to create a storyboard before you begin building Company Stories on the CMS. Storyboarding is a valuable method used by filmmakers, animators, developers, and humanoid robotics content managers alike! Storyboarding allows you to conceptualize your message, assign effective media content, and to identify any issues with flow. Not sure where to get started? • Use common vocabulary. If the word is in the dictionary, it is likely Pepper knows this word. However, uncommon acronyms or names can be more difficult for Pepper to register.
  • Test your narration before putting Pepper out on the floor. As Pepper may have difficulty pronouncing names or certain syllables. A quick fix is to type a word phonetically or to space out acronyms in the text box.
  • Carefully consider how you phrase Pepper’s narration. Remember, Pepper will be saying your desired text, therefore, it should be written as dialog as opposed to written word. Don’t simply copy and paste text from another resource, be sure to re-word as if it were to be spoken. Try saying it aloud!
  • End-users are very likely to disengage or lose interest when a story is too long. Keep each slide clear and concise. We recommend to keep each slide to 10-15 seconds maximum of narration, while each story should be less than one minute. Try breaking up your content into multiple stories - This allows the end-user to opt-in or opt-out of additional information at the end of each story.
  • Context is key to a successful interaction. Consider adding an introduction or ending slide to each story to guide the end-user where to go next. Pepper could encourage them to listen to another company story, or encourage to check out an offering in-person.
  • Don’t have access to an advanced graphics editor? Feel free to use our MS PowerPoint template. This is an easy way to add text, icons, buttons, and to reformat full-screen images. When finished, export each slide as a JPEG file for use in your company story.
